Solutions Used
To help address the impacts of climate change, Atkins supported the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) in implementing one of the largest greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction plans in the nation—the San Bernardino County Regional Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan.
Atkins prepared greenhouse gas inventories and evaluated education measures, population trends, changes in potable water supplies, air quality, and transportation connectivity, and developed a series of monitoring and implementation (screening) tools to help achieve desired targets. A screening table was developed to allow projects flexibility in how they achieve their reduction allocations to help maintain a business-friendly environment. The screening tool offers a menu of reduction options, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, transportation, waste diversion, and industry specific opportunities.
