Climate Action Plan Implementation Screening Tool
San Bernardino , CA , United States
At a Glance: Implementation of San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) greenhouse gas reduction plan, one of the largest in the nation.
The challenges this project addresses are: CO₂ Reduction, Buildings, Fleet Management, Energy Efficiency, Renewables, Carbon Offsets
Due to climate change, California has experienced increasing temperatures and shifts in snowmelt and rainwater run-off cycles.
San Bernardino Associated Governments used Atkins' GHG Implementation Screening Tool to address this/these challenge(s).
To help address the impacts of climate change, Atkins supported the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) in implementing one of the largest greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction plans in the nation—the San Bernardino County Regional Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan. Atkins prepared greenhouse gas inventories and evaluated education measures, population trends, changes in potable water supplies, air quality, and transportation connectivity, and developed a series of monitoring and implementation (screening) tools to help achieve desired targets. A screening table was developed to allow projects flexibility in how they achieve their reduction allocations to help maintain a business-friendly environment. The screening tool offers a menu of reduction options, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, transportation, waste diversion, and industry specific opportunities.
