About OpenGov

OpenGov was founded in 2012 by Zac Bookman, Joe Lonsdale, and technologists from Stanford University, who studied government budgeting in the aftermath of the Great Recession. They observed dedicated public servants struggle against outdated technology that prevented them from accessing timely spending information and communicating their priorities to citizens and elected officials. Believing there was a better way, the team set out to build a modern cloud ERP designed exclusively for the unique budgeting, financial management, and citizen services needs of the public sector in order to power more effective and accountable government.

Services Provided

OpenGov Budgeting & Planning: Full-featured cloud budgeting software designed to meet the unique needs of public sector planning and analysis. Budgeting & Planning is a collaborative solution that helps public sector entities with budget process automation, decision-making, personnel cost forecasting, managerial reporting, and public transparency.

OpenGov Financials: Cloud Financial Management Suite that unifies and automates the mission-critical fund accounting processes of public administration. OpenGov Financials manages core fund accounting processes (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and others) alongside a Utility Billing solution- to help better understand organizational performance, maintain central and accurate dashboards, and communicate clearly and effectively with the public.

OpenGov Citizen Services: Cloud Permitting and licensing management software designed to make these processes more organized. OpenGov Citizen Services manages core services such as building forms, collecting fees, and scheduling virtual inspections, while providing transparency by allowing citizens to track their submissions.
